Rudbekia – Laciniata -RARE – 2 litre pot
We have grown this by accident and are the only grower; finally we have had it identified: a very hardy but somewhat forgotten perennial with very deeply cut foliage and a large very prominent raised central cone with small yellow petals.
Rudbeckia Laciniata is a giant for the back of the border growing 4/5 feet and very quick to form a sturdy clump, we do not need to stake them or support them in any way. From our original stock plant we have divided, and we collect our own seed to this day for stability, I have also managed to plant the original mother plant here in the pasture.
In the past when we sow from seed that has been sourced, we have noticed that although it is clearly listed as Laciniata, it is a different plant, with a different leaf. Our original plant seems to be unique in the extremely serrated leaf and the SLUGS HATE THEM as they feel like sandpaper, which is a huge bonus!
Our Plants grow with amazing vigour! This plant is one of my favourites for long lasting beautiful flowers with the added bonus of a gorgeous leaf.

Rudbekia are all very tough and reliable, and they are invaluable for pollinating insects. The flowering season is continuous from Summer, all the way through until late autumn. Virtually bomb proof they are planted in most of the beds at Sonoma providing colour and structure. Rudbekia will form an expanding clump quickly and easily. They are tolerant of drought and do not need watering. We now grow 4 different varieties.
