Goats Rue (Galega Officinallis or French Lilac) 5 litre pot

We have this in the stable yard, we didnt plant her – she just decided to move in and that is just what this gorgeous plant does.  This particular plant is White not pale lilac and in spite of growing in front of the “Tool Shed” stable door she manages very well being cut down every few months….

It looks very delicate, fluffy and romantic with pea like leaves and flowers in the palest lilac or white, but is not delicate at all – “Tough as old Boots” is all Donna can say.  We really wouldn’t be without this plant to feed all pollinators and provide a large bush like structure with really marvellous growth.  If the wild flowers are struggling with a cool season or too much drought this plant has fed our population of Shrill Carder and Brown Banded Bumblebees and also kept the hoverflies supplied too.

Its a true perennial and dies right down to be dormant through the Winter, but grows quickly and strongly from early Spring into a large bush around 3-4 feet (90-120cm).

It does self-seed, ideal for wild areas, full sun and large borders and poor soils.
