Kniphofia (Red hot Poker) ‘Caulescens’ – 3 litre pot
More widely known as Red hot Pokers – growing to 3 feet this perennial is loved by insects and birds alike. They have been grown throughout the UK for a very long time, but it has only just been realised that they naturally grow on the edges and banks of water. If they are in a moist planting situation they will assume a new vibrance and repeat flower with vigour and gusto.
Kniphofia caulescens is an evergreen perennial to 100cm, with short, stout stems bearing tufts of broad-based, grey-green leaves. Fat spikes of flowers open deep coral-red, soon changing to light lemon-yellow.
