MALVA SYLVESTRIS – 2 LITRE POT

The Mallow here at Enchanted Gardens is a little different – its main area is under a very old Hawthorne tree and I hardly noticed them at first – Until I realised that by the time they flowered they were over 10 feet tall?  I didn’t know they could get that tall.  One day whilst a “Nature loving” friend came to see me as she passed these supreme ladies she picked buds and ate them – I followed suit and they are “nutty” and very delicious so new knowledge gained.

The Common Mallow typically blooms from June to September, with its vibrant flowers during the summer months attracting so many pollinators.

Throughout history, the Common Mallow has served various purposes, particularly for its medicinal and culinary properties. In traditional medicine, it was believed to possess soothing and anti-inflammatory qualities. It was used to treat respiratory ailments, digestive issues, and skin irritations. In culinary practices, the leaves and flowers of the Common Mallow were once consumed.
