Sambucus Nigra (Common Elder) 5 litres
We grew this from a packet of seeds labelled ‘Helianthus Maximillion’.
We were as surprised as anyone………
Either we did something wrong, or the seed company did!
Anyway, they are now lovely little native Elder Trees!
Great for the pollinators with huge white umbellifer flowers, great for elderflower wine or champagne, followed later by purple berries for elderflower cordial. The pollinators adore them as a great food source and the birds will take all the berries if you don’t.
This will grow anywhere, and on any soil – keep under control by cutting back hard, late Autumn or leave it until very early spring.
