White Lilac – Syringa 5 litres

Lilacs might be seen to be a little old fashioned now but they are a great source of nectar for the insects. They flower profusely and are as tough as old boots (think buddleia but white really).  Don’t be afraid to prune a lilac is she becomes a bit on the larger side – they sucker freely.

They like sunny, humus rich, well drained soil, they prefer chalk but ours are on clay and seem fine.

We do not feed our trees in the garden but a good mulch for the Summer months does wonders.
